Dr. Jerry Latham of Harwood Vision in Bedford, Texas has been receiving numerous calls about the solar eclipse happening on Monday. He sent out the following information to his clients, and we thought we’d share it here as well:
“This is in response to the numerous phone calls we have received with questions about the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st. Your everyday activities can be carried on as you normally would, including driving. During this time, please avoid looking DIRECTLY at the sun without appropriate protection. This can be a fun event if done correctly but should not cause stress or avoidance of your daily routine. You can visit NASA’s website to view other frequently asked questions at https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/faq. They also have a few fun activities for both children and adults, including making a Cereal Box Eclipse Viewer at https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse-kit.”
Margaret Hall, of Strategic Wealth Management, is a longtime member of the Chamber, and a longtime contributor! She regularly attends luncheons and after-hours events, and she’s at almost every ribbon cutting. As an Ambassador, she’s very diligent about making Care Calls and turning in her documentation – in fact, in July alone, she made 10 calls. Because she brings a “wealth” of experience and energy to the Chamber, she’s was named the Member of the Month for July. Margaret was recognized at the recent HEB Chamber Luncheon held in Hurst.

Did you know that 55% of HEB ISD students come from homes that are economically disadvantaged? The goal of Operation Back 2 School is to supply these students with a new backpack, school supplies and provide their parents with resources to help all year long.
This year the goal is 6,000 students! With less than 2 weeks until the big event we have 2,000 kids remaining that need your help.
You can help a student start the year off right for just $30 or help a whole classroom full of kids for $600. Sponsor a student and then sign up to volunteer on that day to see the kid’s smiles and their eyes light up when they pick out their new backpack!
