‘Get Up and Give’
September 22 is North Texas Giving Day, an online donation event. Each year, people give millions of dollars to thousands of local nonprofit organizations. In support of this important day, the Chamber will be highlighting some of our nonprofit members in the coming weeks.
Metroport Meals On Wheels, Inc. is a grass-roots volunteer advocate for the elderly and those in need, through home-delivered meals, senior center luncheons, and other support services. We are “neighbors helping neighbors,” alleviating hunger and isolation in our communities and fostering independence, worth and dignity of each individual we serve. Since our beginning in 1980, MMOW has built a people-centered program on a foundation of community support rather than federal, state, or United Way funding. Your support allows us to serve any individual in need, regardless of age or financial status. To learn more, please call 817-491-1141.
The Community Enrichment Center (CEC) works to break the cycle of poverty and abuse for both current and future generations. Working with victims of domestic violence, low-income and homeless families in Northeast Tarrant County, the CEC provides housing, food and basic necessities, high school equivalency classes, employment and financial coaching. These integrated services empower individuals to become independent, emotionally and financially stable members of the community, with a focus on families while helping restore hope and self-esteem.
