Booth holders, want to learn more about how to make the most of your opportunity? Check out this great primer on how to prepare for and perform at a trade show by Charolete Davis, this year’s EXPO Chair:
This week’s success story is about Georgiana Katsingris, a 9th grade student from Westfield, NJ, and the CEO of Wäkkii.
Wäkkii makes and sells a product that lets children step into their own imaginative world and have fun. Wäkkii is a t-shirt for young children with a soft Velcro patch on the back that lets children attach different types of animal tails to it. This young CEO launched her company with blue and pink dinosaur tails as its initial design element, and is exploring many other different types of animals. Through YEA!, Georgiana created a new way for children to express themselves, develop their imagination and creativity and have fun!
Wäkkii has had tremendous success recently, as it is now on the shelves of a retail store in Georgiana’s hometown of Westfield, NJ, as well as available for sale on www.wakkii.com.
Georgiana is a graduate of the YEA! Greater Westfield, NJ class and was the runner-up at the 2015 Northeast Regional Saunders Scholars Semifinals Competition in Rochester, NY. She is a freshman in high school, and is actively involved in her community.
Congratulations to Kayla Abramowitz, who has recently won the Prudential Spirit of Community Award! In appreciation of her great work, Kayla will receive $1,000, a silver medallion, and an all expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. in early May, where she will be one of 10 students to be named top volunteers in the country!
Kayla Abramowitz is the Founder & CKO (Chief Kid Officer) of Kayla Cares 4 Kids, a non-profit organization started through the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce YEA! class. She began the organization by collecting entertainment and educational items to donate to children’s hospitals in an effort to help children feel better. With over 10,000 items collected and donated to date, Kayla is working as hard as ever to “Helping Sick Kids Feel Better One Smile At A Time!”
Kayla was the winner of the 2015 YEA! Saunders Scholars Competition, and her efforts have gained the attention of important figures like the Governor of Florida and Chelsea Clinton.

Charolete Davis, with the help of Dennis Family Homes, prepared an excellent training session on how to prepare for and perform at a trade show. If you feel that your trade show experiences have been less fruitful than you’d like, watch this training session, and you’ll be able to dramatically change your results.
She outlines what to do in advance of a trade show to attract people to your booth, how to setup your booth to maximize the opportunities you have, and how to pack your “everything box.” Charolete had 90 substantive contacts at last year’s HEB EXPO. Did you?
If you’d like to review the slide deck that Charolete used in more detail, it’s available at Slideshare.net. Click here to access it.

The Clubhouse for Special Needs will be celebrating their 10 year anniversary of serving Northeast Tarrant County on April 2 at the Texas Star Conference Center in Euless!
The Clubhouse is a safe and fun place for teens and young adults with mild to moderate intellectual and physical challenges where education, socialization and independence is taught in a recreational atmosphere. They live by their motto, “Socialization, NOT Vegetation!”
Please help us help The Clubhouse by becoming a sponsor or by donating an item to their silent auction! The proceeds from the silent auction will go towards buying a van, so they can take their young people on local field trips!
For more information, please see the fliers linked below and/or visit www.theclubhouse.org. Donated items or sponsorship check can be dropped off at The Clubhouse, my office or I can schedule a time to pick it up from your office or place of business.
